Compare yourself to others, and you’ll stay the same.

I couldn’t shake the thought: “I’m the only one who’s not succeeding!” I had to change the way I looked at others. I started to understand why they were so successful. I had to realize they’d been in the game for longer than I could imagine.

While I was sabotaging myself, they were making progress.

I had to realize that comparing absolute numbers wasn’t doing me any good. Having $5 saved, next time you add $5 more, you just doubled your savings. It sounds childish—or even worse—it sounds like fooling yourself.

Compare yourself to others, and you’ll stay the same.

I Started to See Progress In My Life

It’s impossible to see progress when you compare $5 saved to a seven-figure bank account.

I started to understand that overcoming self-doubt wasn't that hard—I was just approaching it the wrong way.

Here's what I should have done instead:

But what changed for me was one idea. And as soon as that clicked— “When you compare yourself to others, you're comparing their best side to your worst.”

The Simplest Way To Overcome Self Doubt

Everyone struggles with self-doubt.

Personally, I have for years. It was a constant comparison to others. “I’ll never be like them.” I saw them as capable and couldn’t see any good in myself.

If my grandfathers are sober for over 30 years, why can’t I?

Try doing breath work after a couple of beers — it doesn’t work. If you don’t take care of your body, even popular things like breath work, meditation, or yoga won’t work the way you want. So I stopped drinking, eating meat, and consuming sugar.

In the summer of 2021 everything changed
I found inner strength on a retreat.

I kept going like, respecting (with a few exceptions) the rule, for 3 to 4 years.

I followed that rule (with a few exceptions) for 3 to 4 years.

My Life After University
The only reason I’d have a drink was to celebrate.

I refused to drink without a reason. The rule was simple: give me a reason to celebrate, and I’d have at most two — beers, glasses of wine, or shots.

If you had the chance to see me at that time, you would call me “Mr. Showman”. I was inviting everyone to dance, and everything was just fine. For that time.

One night, they all went to the club. I went to sleep — I just couldn’t join them.

At that moment, I knew I’d see things differently from then on.

Parties, travelling, hitchhiking, volunteering — I even studied abroad for one semester and went to the US.

I was the party starter. I was the bartender.

In my second year, I began to rethink why I was really there. A teacher once said, “I don’t understand why you see university as a burden. Start seeing the opportunities around you — and act.”

My Life During University
First year, I was a complete geek, studying and playing League of Legends. Nothing else.

In hindsight, the decision seems obvious. It felt like a natural transition. I never imagined this beautiful journey towards self-mastery. I have full autonomy — freedom on my terms.

Looking back, I see 3 phases.

Every idea is possible — it’s already been done in other industry.

Why limit yourself because competition is doing only a few things?

If other industries are doing it, go for it.

I could start an online community where I document everything, sell shows and merchandise, and organize improv team buildings for companies.

And many more ideas.

Let’s expand the Improv business idea.

My improv classes could have 5 modules and a few extra for those who want to learn and practice advanced show formats. I could do mentoring for those who want to perform, and weekly training sessions without any teaching — just for practicing purposes.
