though treating plaintext and simple web browsers (lynx/dillo/netsurf/etc) as bots really rubs me the wrong way

ok i get there's a massive surge of AI scrapers trashing out sites but why cloudflare?? they're very privacy unfriendly

and if y'all really want to stop scrapers try using anubis since at least that one is open source and is easy to reimplement

man the US is really going into a rampage on "woke" content
June 12, 2025 at 11:49 AM
and for AI... it depends on the jurisdiction, i guess? i really don't want to delve too much into the GenAI can of worms though in my country credit to author is always required (even if PD) and if you're using a huge dataset... yeah good luck crediting every single one

not sure if i'm qualified to answer this since i usually prefer to use CC0 over other CC licenses, though i do that because i find copyright law to be more of a nuisance and also even if i held rights there's no way i'd have the money to enforce them

they really learnt from RCM didn't they
June 12, 2025 at 3:24 AM
turns out i had to add a single line in libcmrt and now it works

I was able to identify what causes the crash: github.com/intel/cmrt/b...
github.com

but it still sucks considering it's reported to work on those GPUs :(

also btw when i said firefox was working faster i've also noticed that it does try to ini the VP9 driver but fails and uses the FFmpeg decoder as a fallback instead
June 9, 2025 at 2:36 AM
and the only reason why i've said the performance was better is because for some odd reason 4K playback on MPV is very slow when --vo=gpu is set, --vo=gpu-next works WAY better

also yeah, the hybrid driver don't explicitly mention skylake, tho i assumed it would still work since mentions older
June 9, 2025 at 2:33 AM
so apparently this driver (intel-hybrid-codec-driver and libva-intel-driver-hybrid both on the AUR) seems to implement VP9 decoding with some shader trickery, which makes intel_gpu_top display usage from the 3D part rather than video

this almost feels like black magic tbh
June 8, 2025 at 11:21 PM
for some reason YouTube only provides videos beyond 1080p with non-H.264 codecs, like VP9 and AV1

my CPU is an core i3-6006U based on the Skylake microarchitecture, which while it can do VP8 decoding, it can't do VP9 at all
