Absolutely killer film recipe. Straight out of camera JPEG, zero editing (except for border and watermark).

A glorious sunny day for a walk in the neighborhood, tempered only by an icy breeze, but good enough for photography.

Playing around with a new recipe in my Fuji X100V, "Dark Diary High Contrast". These are straight out of camera #sooc with no adjustments other than adding the watermark.

On such a gorgeous day (53ºF and sunny) it would have been a crime not to go out and take a few photos in my neighborhood.

At a spry 98, photographer Bill Pay is a true Sioux Falls treasure. He regaled us with stories from his 80+ yr career in photography. He was gracious & generous with his time, and even consented to a photograph. As I took time composing this shot he quipped, "Take the shot, I might die of old age."

"Once a photographer is convinced that … the vast majority of photographs are camera lies … half the battle is won. Once he has conceded that … striving for naturalism in a photograph is futile, he can turn his attention to using a camera to make more effective pictures." — Andreas Feininger

It is a street photography cliché to talk about the beauty in the mundane, but I also find beauty in the abandoned and the decaying.

One reason is my fascination with how the human and natural worlds collide—and how, when a man-made object is neglected, nature reclaims the space it occupies.
