The Right-wing myth is that the art of the past is untouched by supposed modern blights like wokeness, & would shock today's left. In reality much of the art of the past (of which the philistine Right is largely unaware or uncomprehending) is ahead of us, & would horrify reactionaries if made today.
Just rewatched The Seventh Seal for the bajillionth time and I'm pretty sure you couldn't make a movie about a blonde medieval crusader being crushed by the meaningless of imperialism, his crisis of faith and deep need for community and humanity without people bitching about history "gone woke".

Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well (more than 400 years old) is a startling statement of sympathy and solidarity with the female experience of patriarchy. The modern equivalent would be denounced as degenerate woke propaganda by the ignoramuses of the classical-statue-in-avatar brigade.
