malos and jin from xenoblade 2, staring at the viewer as if they have just been walked in on. jin looks a bit more taken aback; malos is having none of it and is not impressed. malos has one hand partially under Jin’s chin. they are dressed down considerably from their usual attire: jin is wearing the purple turtleneck that is typically underneath the rest of his blade attire, and he has most of his hair pulled back in a low ponytail; malos is wearing a v-neck that cuts off just before his core.

i've never really "wanted" a specific art style because art styles just naturally sort of happen the more you draw but i've been thinking about working out a more simplified one lately. especially if i want to make more animatics or just use it as a way to get concepts out of my head faster

panel 1: torna org is gathered around a table eating dinner. from the top of the table and going clockwise: jin (chiding malos), malos (mocking jin), sever, perdido, cressidus, obrona (her wings close to her), akhos, patroka, mikhail, miyabi, and taion. (miyabi and taion are headcanon members of torna org and currently have no known canon confirmations that connect them to torna org. just speculation based on miyabi’s fans and taion’s DLC costume.) to the left, the title: “learning to count with torna org”. panel 2: mikhail is thinking about something. beside him, miyabi and taion chat about the meal. beside taion, jin has noticed mikhail’s pensiveness. panel 3: mikhail notices jin. on his other side, patroka chats with akhos off-frame. panel 4: mikhail speaks up. mikhail: “every single odd number has an ‘r’ in it”. panel 5: close-up reactions from torna org, split screen style. from the top left and going clockwise: jin, looking confused with a brow raised; malos, looking pissed; sever, drinking from a glass with a straw, and perdido, both looking mildly annoyed; obrona, her head tilted, and cressidus, with a finger on his chin, both confused; patroka and akhos, looking equal parts tired and frustrated; and miyabi, looking speechless, and taion, looking blankly in disbelief. panel 1: a similar shot from the first panel on page 1, but with “…” above them to show the reaction to mikhail’s comment. a few purple clouds are gathered around malos. panel 2: a close up of obrona speaking, the first verbal response to mikhail. obrona: not all of them. 30 and 50 aren’t spelled with the letter “e” in it. panel 3: on the left, jin reacts with a deadpan expression, a dark cloud over his face. on the right, malos reacts with more anger, the purple clouds now forming into purple fire around him. panel 4: patroka, arms crossed, adds onto obrona’s statement, as if to further explain her point. at the bottom of the panel and partially cut off, mikhail counts off on his fingers. patroka: if you can’t split a number in half evenly, it’s even. 30 and 50 are odd. panel 1: miyabi and taion watch on in confusion, miyabi looking more worried than taion, who mostly looks unimpressed. panel 2: akhos explains things further for the youngest members of torna org. akhos: 15+15=30. 25+25=30. panel 3: three-way split, with miyabi on the left, taion on the right, and malos on the bottom, with just his upper face showing. miyabi and taion are only more bewildered by what was said. malos looks as appalled as he does furious, and the purple clouds frame the side of his head. panel 4: on the left, jin corrects akhos’ statement, looking unimpressed. on the right, malos hangs his head and is doubled over. the purple flames are getting more vivid, including a line down his back and two spots along the top of his head. jin: “25+25=30?” are you sure about that? panel 5: akhos realizes his error, both embarrassed and stunned by what he said. on either side of him, obrona (on the left) and patroka (on the right) make fun of him, obrona with an added “pfft”. panel 1: mikhail, fresh from his counting, stands from his chair and makes an announcement. mikhail: one, three, five, nine! panel 2: a zoomed-out shot of the previous panel, showing mikhail standing. miyabi’s head is to the side as she faces him. mikhail: and since everything else after that is a variant of these numbers, then all odds have the letter “e.” panel 3: an extreme close-up of malos’ eye. everything else is in single-block colors and simple chibi proportions, but this is the most detailed aspect of the comic. malos’ eye is brimming with fury, his brows pulled down and tight. his pupil is extremely dilated. there is a purple haze on either side of the panel but also across the lower half of his eye. panel 4: on the left, jin has completely given up and flopped over onto the table. a grey cloud with line effects covers him. on the right, sever’s drink has been knocked out of his hand and is now spilled across the table. he is not happy about it. a grey cloud covers his eyes. in the center of it all, malos (who had knocked over the drink) finally responds, purple clouds of destruction brewing out around him. the darker shades cloud around him and the lighter flames billow out. as the dark aegis and as the personality of the supercomputer logos, a machine built on logic, he cannot take any more of these mathematical errors. malos: YOU FORGOT SEVEN.
