SERAP and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) have sued Umar Bago, Niger state governor and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over the ongoing intimidation of Badeggi FM Radio, Minna, and the threat to weaponize the NBC to further crackdown on the station and its owner Shuaibu Badeggi.

The Nigerian authorities must immediately & unconditionally release journalist Omoyele Sowore who was reportedly detained yesterday by Nigerian police. They must drop all charges against him.

The Nigerian police must end the persecution of Sowore solely for peaceful exercise of his human rights.

President Tinubu must direct the Inspector General of Police to immediately release a Nigerian police officer who is arbitrarily detained for reportedly being present during an incident where the sons of a Nigerian businessman were seen allegedly abusing the naira.
