Honestly as amusing as this is, it's safe to say the provision in the guidance to ask for birth ceritificates is only a temporary placeholder so they can get the guidance out immediately.
The actual endgame will come when the government pushes out digital ID cards with 'birth sex' on them.

My mum has always been massively supportive, but even she started using "biological sex" after watching so much news lately & I had to explain why that's so offensive. It hurts how far it's gone

As a trans woman who is an adult and a human (allegedly) and female in every way that matters, I never understood why "women are adult human females" is meant to be a gotcha anyway. Aside from being bad grammar.

Yeah the fact that trans people with a GRC are included in this "ban" completely torpedos that supposed claim out of the water.
If even jumping through their own ridiculous hoops and obtaining an "I am trans" certificate from the government isn't enough to save you, then clearly she's lying.

This is way more complicated than what I'm going to be able to fit into a post here. I'd research on the topic around sex as a construct.
"Sex" is not easy to define, even by biologists. Many trans people change their biology as they transition. Sex & gender are different but neither is immutable.

It's kind of similar to the way that a lot of cis 'allies' (and even a portion of trans people themselves) started arguing from the position of "trans women's sex is male but gender is female and sex and gender are different!"

I feel exactly the same way. Sitting here at my desk while people are raising me the usual mix of tickets to clean, reports to produce and training courses to sit through... and it all seems so pointless and hard to think about right now while the government is on the news deleting my human rights.

In the full interview she's asked repeatedly if trans women should use male toilets and (eventually) answers with "The ruling is clear, they should use the facility that aligns with their biological sex."
So while she didn't say the words "male toilets" I think she was clear about her intention.

Transphobes all firmly believe in a "sexed soul." They think that if you are born "a male" you have some inherent spiritual "maleness" about you that can never be changed.
Many of them won't admit it, because it's obviously make believe nonsense, but it's what drives most of this.

ironically liberal allyship of the 2010s has likely played a part in this too. it meant well, but promoting “sex is seperate from gender” plays into rightwing transphobic framing, in that you are playing dress up but your biological sex is wholly seperate
