Levelling is very Warframe: you don't level up, but your weapon skill and Pact do. There is some method to earn increases to your base three stats, but I haven't figured out what exp bar that is, and I am free to move the points around as I see fit anyway.

It's clearly a test of mechanics. This is not the fast-paced "make big numbers" aerobics of Warframe; choosing instead something more akin to Dark Souls. Combat is slower and more methodical, using parries and a stagger system. this is fun, but it's easy to fight the camera or get overwhelmed
