Trek starships are ultimately supposed to be places you work and live in & the TNG bridge matches this idea perfectly. It’s properly lit up so everyone can see, it’s got a warm welcoming aesthetic, walking room, cozy chairs, even some nice wood grain. It’s a living room.

An absolutely great layout. Captain and first officer front and center, nice lighting and carpeting, each station clearly marked off but not feeling disconnected from everyone else. I also dig the conn being a solo station up front

This is a slightly warmer and more lived in feeling version of the Refit bridge, another logical design progression of the original TOS
design. That captains chair also looks really comfy to sit in.

This bridge is a love letter to the 90s and 2000s era of Trek. I love the placement of each station, love the large LCARs display, and I’m a fan of the captains chair having bridge officers right next to it.

The bridge for the early Trek movies loses some of the color pop of the original bridge but retains the design and feel while feeling like a slight advancement in design. There’s nothing here that distracts you from what you’re doing.

This bridge is a fantastic update to the original design. It’s got some warm colors that still have pop, it’s open but not too open, and it’s a well lit workspace. Again, that slightly elevated chair is cool.

It’s cramped, but on purpose. The Defiant was a ship trimmed down to the essentials as a battle ship and the bridge reflects that without losing the feel of a Federation ship. In a fight you don’t want to be screaming 20 feet across the bridge, you want everything right next to you

We see enough of it in Generations that I wanted to include it. It keeps most of the staples of the classic Enterprise bridge while also incorporating some of the layout ideas that the TNG era would use, like every station facing the same direction. It’s a very uniform layout.

The original, no bloody A, B, C, or D. It’s dated from a set design perspective but I love the popping colors, the interior and exterior stations, and the raised captains chair a lot. It’s the foundation of which many sci fi command centers are based upon for good reason.

This bridge gets a little too much flack for its Apple Store aesthetic but it’s a solid layout and a respectable update of the classic TOS bridge design.

Now we start getting into designs I start to enjoy. It’s a look that fits the ship, it’s compact but the layout makes sense with each station clearly defined. Also, you can actually see in this bridge

The more modern Trek shows seem to love this shiny floor and dark aesthetic, I personally like think this bridge would be an annoying work environment. Could someone turn on the lights?

Here I come with my first hot take. I don’t like the E’s bridge at all. It takes the wrong lessons from the Defiant’s design, I don’t like the color choices or the dark corners at all, it feels like a regression of design from its predecessor.

Really not a fan of this bridge design at all as it seems cold and everything is too spaced out. The hard floor and walls also probably mean this bridge would echo like hell, imagine multiple conversations happening here during a battle or something😵💫
