Democratic state senator serving Wisconsin’s 26th District in Dane County. Member, Joint Committee on Finance. Champion for reproductive freedom and abortion rights.
The most powerful and profitable companies in the history of the world have refused to protect our kids—instead, they profit off isolation, insecurity, and depression. We need guardrails to protect our kids as they engage with social media, to prevent the harms that are now well-documented.

Today, we announced the introduction of the SAFE Kids Act, which will ensure that the safety and wellbeing of children is paramount, and that social media companies abide by basic standards—no targeted ads or data collection on kids, no addictive algorithms designed to promote endless scrolling.

Across Wisconsin, I’ve heard concerns from people across the political spectrum about the challenges that data centers pose: unregulated corporate power running roughshod over local needs, huge increases in the price of electricity, and damage to our water supply.

We introduced The Building Families Act!

Everyone deserves the freedom to build a family the way that makes the most sense for them. Infertility is a disease and it should be treated and covered just like any other diagnosis.

I am proud to author this legislation alongside students, faculty, and staff at higher ed institutions around the state. It is part of a broader effort to reduce firearm injuries and deaths, and to ensure that everyone has the freedom to live without the fear of gun violence.

Gov. Evers has always been correct when he says that what’s best for our kids is what’s best for Wisconsin. Thank you, Tony and Kathy, for your decades of service to our beloved state.

First act of one of the Senate’s most vulnerable Republicans, after their caucus lost 4 seats, is to further enshrine restrictive voter suppression measures in our constitution. The new season hasn’t even started yet but they’re so eager to make it harder for us to vote that they couldn’t wait.

I am honored to have been reappointed to JFC so that we can continue our work to make Wisconsin a place where everyone can thrive. Our state budget should enable us as Wisconsinites to have what we need from our state government, so we can build the lives we want.
