Mother, wife, loving my crone era. English teacher fighting the good fight.
I didn't read R&J until Grade 11. No Shakespeare before then. Absolutely no justification for it if we're delivering the new curriculum in my district.

It continues to be a fantasy of mine to provide a scene from one of the lesser studied plays to colleagues and ask for their insights after one cold read. We are often just passing along a shortened version of our university notes and calling it teaching.

Totally agree. So much of the usage is not an improvement over analog. Students shouldn't be on devices 4 periods a day.

As a long time magnum sub, some of the calls can be a bit repetitive. This one came out of nowhere and was absolutely fascinating. Loved the vet and hope she never has to return. 😬🤪

Modification for high school: remind students for 29th time that masks and replica weapons need to remain in lockers.

This might be harder for post secondary, but I will usually save some of the papers that will likely be stronger so ones that need more feedback are when you're freshest.

So much variability in the job. Students change, administrators change, curriculum changes. I'm teaching a course again for the first time in 8 years and feel like a fumbly new teacher sometimes.

Is a cigarette that much worse than eating Christmas tinsel every year??

Handed in my locker combination list a full day before it was due. 🤗🥳

I felt the same way about Doctor Snuggles and that weird camel.

I'm tired of this "they'll use it anyway" argument. Comparisons to alcohol / drug use. Except we know teaching the potential problems with alcohol use, parental monitoring, and laws restricting reduce teen alcohol use. We don't just throw our hands up.

Our school choir did a program with a local memory support group. They sang all the music from their youth.

SH was really the turning point for me. I remember saying this will be the moment of change or it will never change. Sadly, it was the latter.

Distrtict message: Students can use AI to generate ideas, but it shouldn't replace thinking. What are we doing here?!?

How the f--k did we get here?!?

District wide Zoom presentation with no built in break times, delivered in lecture theatre seating. Presenter had a DJ which is "fun". Can't wait to see what gets delivered this year!

I'm not totally against drinking in parks, greater availability at convenience stores, but on routes are literally just for travelers? Who was asking for this??
