The majority of NATO is the U.S. I guess you mean the process of decisions made through the organization.

Just history... Greenland will be subject to an army regardless, if not Europe/America, then China and Russia.

21st Century: Modern Revivals Under Trump
In 2019, President Donald Trump suggested buying Greenland for strategy and resources, causing a diplomatic spat. After 2024 reelection, he revived it in 2025, escalating rhetoric by 2026, but no sale has occurred.

Their not Western Europe is a mess. They should focus on Ukraine first and actually step up.

This has little to do between Europe and the USA. It's about collective security against Russia and China.

Europe has no significant ability to properly patrol the country and assert control of the shipping lanes.

I don't think you understand the military significance of the country. You are right. This has nothing to do with minerals, etc.

Shipping lanes and airbases yes
January 7, 2026 at 1:50 PM
It's more important for its strategic position for shipping lanes and airports. The country received two offers from previous American presidents to purchase the country in the past. FDR offered 100,000 tons of gold.

It was critical during WW2.

Illegal immigration has caused major issues in my neighborhood in Chicago. I am glad the law is finally being enforced. We have had huge issues with our budget and a lot of strain on our public services. Also, people are finally getting their jobs back at decent wages.
