Former Bill S-269 was met with enthusiasm in the Senate, passing unanimously at 3rd reading. It's my hope that senators will facilitate a speedy passage for S-211 to ensure it gets to the House and can become law, getting us one step closer to the protections Canadians deserve (5/5)

A national standard would ensure country wide protections for consumers & vulnerable groups, while allowing companies to advertise without navigating a patchwork of regulations. As the government seeks to streamline standards across the country, this is an area that should not be overlooked. (4/5)

Bill S-269 had made it to the floor of the House of Commons in the last parliament, but died on the order paper with prorogation. In the intervening months our continuous and emerging data informs us this issue its impacts are on the rise. (3/5)

As with former Bill S-269, this legislation would force the government to take the lead on creating national advertising standard for gambling ads & promotions, which would better protect consumers and vulnerable groups from the harms of gambling. (2/5)

Canada signing onto the Macolin Convention would be a great first step in this regard, especially as Canada looks to shore up alliance across the Atlantic, which includes our cultural ties through sport.
