What we can do about it? It is both easy and hard at the same time: Do not use centralized services for mission-critical applications. Just do not do it. You will help yourself, and you can help to save the Internet.

Is this surprising? Not at all! This is entirely predictable development. In fact, I have described this dangerous trend in a TEDx talk in 2012 (!) when it was as clear as a day already.

While the Internet was designed to be a decentralized internetwork, the services running on top of it are deployed in a very centralized way. The centralization has obviously reached a point where it is dangerous.

I honestly hope it will work for you. It did not work for us.
