Riding the surface between environmental regulation and research, trying to provide a little lubrication where I can. This is where I speak calmly into the void.
Y'know, for once I am going to admit that there's a serious lethality issue going on.

Even if true, present rumors would have zero impact on my presidential retirement letter bingo card.

After being told to have the day I deserve, I went five whole days without a migraine. Pretty sure that is a good sign.

Perhaps we coin the term Enron Administration for when a nation needs to use novel accounting methods to give vibes of progress toward their goals.

Juneteenth seems like the kind of holiday that we should never have to celebrate. A war was fought and won, affirming the rights of people to not be property. Years later those people find out? Celebrate freedom and question why we have the orphan crushing machine in the first place.

This. This is how NCOES becomes 70% provocative marching styles and 30% party doctrine. This is how you destroy a military and simultaneously make for astounding parades.

I feel like I really must put in the work to reclaim floral and tropical pattern shirts. Perhaps this can be my retirement hobby.

Wake up to migraine? Normal/bad. Wake up to partner singing Bella ciao to the dog while I'm experiencing a migraine? Shockingly better.

Whether one prefers Rules for Rulers by @cgpgrey.bsky.social or The Dictator's Handbook, the cruelty is not the point. Gaining adherents without sharing wealth by manufacturing moral wins is simply preserving wealth to hand out to capitalist supporters in order to hold on to power.

People are speaking as though they've never heard of a PACE plan before. Sure, expose yourself to enemy fire but why not use radios, flares, smoke, semaphore first? Are we trying to make warfighter into a derogatory term like bullet sponge? Are signal and ordnance too woke?

Here I thought that this was just an effort to shred the economy and consolidate power after the crash, but I missed the true masterstroke: by destroying the credibility of the presidency one could kick the ladder out behind them preventing it when not in power.

They voted doubting it would happen. He said he'd do it, it didn't sound that bad. He did it, and it wasn't a big deal. Then it was, but it wasn't their fault. It was their fault, but they didn't mean it. And if they did, it is because we deserved it. Waiting for rhetorical shift to the last bit.

Are we waging a trade war on places that grew Cinchona really well at the end of the 17th century? Places that our whaling fleets weren't allowed to dock? Imagining if we deny climate change that it will stop, so we still need tarrifs to keep the global south oppressed instead?

With the proposal to move student loans to the SBA, where are the Republican Attorneys General that we're beating down the doors to stop student loan forgiveness on the premise it would harm their states?

A Bluetooth error ended up @socialistdogmom.bsky.social pilling my partner, made good progress on ethical consumption, nailed mango lassis for dessert. It's been a good week.

Never imagined selling polar bear liver in West Texas would be so lucrative. I guess that is my retirement plan now.

Perhaps I misunderstood the history the boomers taught, but when we rolled over and let Russia win weren't we supposed to get communism? I get that communism is the end state, but socialism would be fine and we can put in the work? Could we at least get the metric system? Throw me a bone.

Note to self: sodomy and the lash as a naval force multiplier is proportional to the greater of the relative attractiveness of the recruit or sodimizer's perception of the most attractive of the nation's three top leaders. Evaluate this hypothesis without the influence of gin.

Feels like soon we'll return to things like coastal artillery and somehow justify it as increased lethality and smaller government. King of battle, I guess?

Getting a little nervous about a future flight to YYZ. It is on. 737 Max 8, to YYZ, and far enough in the future that ATC may be musk-ratfucked. At least there's time to make sure my affairs are in order.

Isn't it kind of gilding the lily to accompany your already-expensive eggs with a relatively useless but shiny cybertruck?

I can't help but wonder what the US equivalent of St. Helena would be. Plum Island? Geographically no, but would be great. Until we decide, I think there would be less debate about deporting South African Nazis that broke immigration laws to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Maybe as pennance end the embargo?
