My big new album Doom Sickness is out today! I worked on this for a very long time and I'm extremely proud of how it turned out. I wrote a bunch of words about it if you want to read them, but really it's all there in the music

I began this album in late 2018 and worked on it for about six months before setting it aside to make my previous album, VAST. This was about halfway through the first Trump presidency here in America and in those six months I laid out the album title, most song titles, and a general idea of what each song would be about. Almost seven years later I’m sitting here under the same president in a world that’s somehow even worse, and all those initial ideas are not only still relevant but more so than ever. Seems bad! I’ve been struggling a little to talk about this album, mostly because it feels very self-explanatory. There’s no tricks to the title - every song touches on how living under a constant stream of bad news wears a person down little by little. War, genocide, xenophobia, climate change, environmental destruction, AI bullshit, all of it rolls on seemingly unmoved by the increasingly loud chorus of people who don’t want things to get worse, actually. It can often feel completely hopeless trying to create any meaningful change in a world run by a relatively small group of sociopathic freaks. Despite everything, I choose to keep living. Every moment of every day is a new chance to improve something. There is nothing to gain by giving up and everything to gain by continuing to struggle till the last moments. I feel like a breathing cliche sitting here typing this all out but it really is true. Realistically none of these songs will make any actual impact. A hundred people or two will listen to them and move on. I have enough self awareness to know they’re basically just a way for me to vent and feel a little better about myself for having good principles or whatever. All I can do is say these things out loud and try to hold them in my head when the sickness sets in. Live well, die old, one billion better worlds.
