This is the same location as a similar EQ on 2/18/25 and regrettable in a big hole in the seismic network. 😕 Now if only we could get a seismic station at Snoqualmie Pass! ⛷️

So much has changed with earthquake monitoring as well as post-event surveying and recovery in the 24 years since our last large earthquake. It is also interesting that we have not had an earthquake larger then M4.9 in OR/WA since the Nisqually event!
Happy #FieldworkFriday! Today is the 24th anniversary of the M6.8 Nisqually earthquake. Seismologist, engineers, & scientists surveyed and documented the wide ranging ground motion effects and damage in the Puget Sound region caused by this powerful earthquake in 2001.
