The tool also shows synthetic e-fuels (solar + electrolysis + air-captured CO₂). Solar is 50x more land-efficient than photosynthesis, but it requires massive infrastructure and is extremely expensive (10-13x more than fossil jet fuel).

You can also check the footprint of your own ticket. A Business Class roundtrip from Paris to San Francisco using Soy-based fuel requires enough land to feed 18 people for a whole year.

The tool compares the land area needed to fuel everything from a single seat to the entire global fleet.
The total land required is huge: with conventional SAFs (corn/soy), you need a farm the size of India!
