Como todos los hombres de Babilonia, he sido procónsul; como todos, esclavo; también he conocido la omnipotencia, el oprobio, las cárceles.

very sane ai newsletter: verysane.ai
the behavior of otherwise normal people is, also, highly variable based on their circumstances

many trivial questions turn out to be infinitely deep

you're good. nature of the medium. not even in the top 20 for insane interactions today

i am informed that he had met drugs previously, but my strong impression is that he got Much Fucking Worse in 2018
November 11, 2025 at 7:20 AM
waving a white flag tends to massively reduce how many people believe you were in the right. i am not being charitable, i am being cynical.
November 11, 2025 at 7:17 AM
waow
November 11, 2025 at 7:16 AM
like. i very much think he's beating chance here
November 11, 2025 at 7:13 AM
it doesn't have to be luck. he could have simply been able to smell good nerd clout, and engineering managers are a type of nerd, and sometimes the clouty ones are actually good
November 11, 2025 at 7:13 AM
depends. understand how. if we mean understand like "iron atoms have positive and negative sides and normally they cancel out but when they all line up the entire thing is positive or negative" i was told this in school when i was four

the options are "you" or "the cops" and if you do it it's likely assault
November 11, 2025 at 7:09 AM
no: whoever was in the wrong made people deal with those things. whoever was in the right was fighting for the thing they were fighting for.
November 11, 2025 at 7:08 AM
sincerely doubt anyone forgot about it from six months ago
November 11, 2025 at 7:06 AM
aaaand who takes the person there if they say no
November 11, 2025 at 7:04 AM
i mean bluntly the average cop on the average call is fine. the problem is that the guardrails at the edges of badly behaved cops are incredibly poor
November 11, 2025 at 6:42 AM
i thiiink maybe they're just assuming some things are zero
November 11, 2025 at 6:40 AM
also sometimes just hard to get into, i am told. like literally you might not qualify for whatever their thing is and then you're like "well i'm going to freeze or i'm going to jail so to the 7/11 i go"
November 11, 2025 at 6:39 AM
he was a piece of shit in a sort of normal businessman way and he became increasingly a piece of shit in a much more dramatic way
November 11, 2025 at 6:36 AM
like. "there is a drunk guy driving a car" is in fact sufficiently dangerous that "some guys with guns" is probably an improvement
November 11, 2025 at 6:32 AM
bluntly the drunk driving alone sort of qualifies. if you're running into shit there isn't like a kinder way to say "no you can't drive, you're fucking drunk and it's dangerous for everyone"
November 11, 2025 at 6:32 AM
this was right after they started dating actually. like i do not have a comprehensive elon timeline so maybe i am missing stuff but his 2018 behavior is markedly worse than previously
November 11, 2025 at 6:27 AM
club fed is reportedly an awesome place to be compared to other american prisons. i am not sure it is an awesome place to be compared to anywhere else
November 11, 2025 at 5:41 AM
ie, a good chunk of them just drop for no reason within 6mo but they usually get sold with a 3 year warranty
November 11, 2025 at 5:38 AM
i think the lowest estimate i've seen is 3, i think ~5 is the ordinary best guess. it is very hard to know for a given newer generation before you start to hit burnout.

also there's a sharp burn-in phase with a high failure rate that makes the average funny depending if you count those
November 11, 2025 at 5:37 AM
it depends how bad being homeless is going for you. people absolutely go to jail on purpose who know exactly what they're signing up for.
November 11, 2025 at 5:35 AM
your ideal system of incarceration is only barely discontinuous with public housing and has a lot of tiers of supervision
