I could write an essay about how much I would kill (metaphorically) for the opportunity to write for The Onion, but there's a dozen reasons why it would be the perfect opportunity at the worst possible time.

1) nobody beats Sondheim for wordplay. Lin-Manuel comes close, but only Sondheim can make it sound perfectly natural.

2) if you ever have an opportunity, do yourself a favor and watch a live, professional production of 'Pirates of Penzance'.

3) Webber has 4 good shows. No one agrees on which 4.

If Cabaret didn't hit for you, especially with at least the US currently looking like it does, I would have worried.

I'm sure you've gotten a number of fantastic suggestions for other shows, but as a nerd who was friends with the theater kids but not actually a theater kid myself, here's my guide:
