It’s also my personal philosophy that the most compelling and well-written teen protagonists are supposed to be a little bit obnoxious and self absorbed because that’s how teens actually are. But this might be a me problem lol

To elaborate on this my POV from what I’ve read is that everyone just feels too much like they’re goody two shoes and there’s not enough main characters who are freaks and/or get up to wacky teen hijinks

I really don’t want to become the IRL version of “no, it’s the children who are wrong” so am I just old and grumpy or is the stuff right now genuinely worse?
