15+ years nonprofit | PhD | Making small shifts daily and sharing what I learn along the way
One shift that changed my productivity:

Instead of "I have to," I say "I get to."

"I have to work out" → "I get to move my body."
"I have to write" → "I get to share my ideas."

Gratitude reframes everything.

It's my birthday today. Last year was about ‘figuring it all out’.

This year?

Slowing down, focusing on the 0.5% shifts, and enjoying the process.

Finding a ‘word of the year’ is a popular practice. I never cared for it.

But last year felt chaotic. I jumped from:
→ Trying to keep a business open (closed it)
→ Being a stay-at-home mom
→ Returning to nonprofit work

So this year, my word is FOCUS.

What’s yours?

I’m curious to know:

How many of you are ok with slow productivity?

How often do you put off something important, waiting for the “perfect” time?

While everyone is freaking out about the TikTok ban, I’m over here building on BlueSky in peace 🦋

PS - this is exactly why smart creators build newsletters first. When a platform dies, your email lives.

This 👇🏽
My one wish for the inauguration is that there is a gift bag under the seats of Bezos, Zuck, Elon etc, with a single, embroidered , padded knee pad

Need to protect themselves when they are on bended knee, kissing the ring 🤷😆

Last year I got caught up in finding the “one” thing to write about on X. It was exhausting. This year, I’m just writing my thoughts, lived experiences, and from the heart. If it resonates with you, that’s great. If it doesn’t, that’s cool too. It’s all good either way.

Most think specialization wins.

My nonprofit career proves otherwise.

I'm can seamlessly flow b/w development, data, DEI, marketing, all in one week.

My versatility isn't just a skill, it's my superpower.

Generalists: we don't just work, we transform.

The fear of failure is the biggest reason why people never reach their true potential, and the truth is everyone experiences it.

Everyone's sharing success stories.

But success w/out struggle feels fake.

We crave the messy middle… the doubts, failures & breakthroughs that shaped you.

Share your journey consistently. Tell us why you started. Show us your battle scars.

That's how you build true connection.

Being in the mountains changes everything.

You’re away from:
- daily chaotic routine
- the noise
- your to-do’s

And you find yourself closer to:
- nature
- your soul
- what truly matters

Spend more time in environments like this 🧡

Compassionate to me is finally admitting that being a "changemaker" was never about sacrificing my own dreams.

After 15 yrs in nonprofits, I realized serving others & building my own thing aren't mutually exclusive, they're the perfect match.

Your impact can be both meaningful AND profitable.
