Cats, books, hiking, music, home-cooked meals, family, adventure friends, Orthodox Christianity, gardening...most of my favorite things in no particular order. Open to DMs for platonic exchanges only - if you're looking for love or money, look elsewhere. 😅
I received "happy mail" from Ukraine today! These are even more beautiful & detailed in person than the picture captures. 🥰 If you are looking for meticulously crafted beadwork that supports a Ukrainian artist, check out @ukrainianart.bsky.social! Nadiia's on Etsy!

If you've ever wondered what keeps your mail person going through the long, cold, snowy days of the holiday season - it's cookie trays from thoughtful customers! Remember to leave a porch light on for these short days & make sure to thank your letter carrier! ❄️🎄

One of my customers put up a fun new mailbox this week! I love all the details, especially the Heineken bottle cap wheel hubs. 🚂

Misha has a "big cat" harness now, so he came outside for some fall garden clean up. This cat LOVES being outdoors!

The drought conditions are making for a dusty harvest this year.

I am thankful that the Illinois Department of Agriculture is working proactively on behalf of our state's farmers to find markets for their harvest. I have wondered more this year than in years past what will become of the soybeans growing behind our house.

The spiders have been very busy this month! This beauty is stationed at our front door and enjoying the benefits of the porch light. 🕷️

Another picture - now with more pelicans!

American white pelicans on Lake Decatur in central IL. They stop through every spring & fall on their migration for about the past 20 years. Local legend has it that they were blown off course by a storm one year & took refuge on the lake. Now they return twice a year. I always look forward to them!

The news today is overwhelming, as it usually is these days, but there are some beautiful collard greens in the garden. The plants have flourished in the recent, cooler weather.

Hey folks, I don't know about you, but everything around me feels a bit out of control. I decided to take control where I could - I put my phone down & swept the patio. Sometimes it's best to sit down with some fiction & let the rest go for a while. Current read courtesy of @chuckwendig.bsky.social

Blooms from some of my new rose bushes! They are much happier now that they have established enough to be treated with systemic fertilizer/insect repellent. 😍🌹

We were in Chicago a couple of weeks ago for a concert on Goose Island & an anniversary trip. It was a fun, safe trip - we walked everywhere & used public transportation. We saw no signs of anything that would constitute a public emergency or justify the deployment of the military.

Perry had a vet appt for teeth cleaning today. He hates leaving the house & hides when he sees the carriers. Misha, on the other paw, was very excited to see the carriers this morning. He is still wondering when it is going to be his turn to "go on an adventure." He's in his carrier & ready to go! 😹

On Friday, I spent my afternoon break with a pair of white tailed fawns. 🥹🦌There are so many deer on my new mail route! Apparently, it is fashionable with the does in this part of town to "park" their babies on a quiet lawn, go forage solo, then pick them up later. Mama deer getting some "me time!"
