You can have both and still eliminate the child being the cause. Of the burn. Starfleet knew of the instability and kept pushing, federation was starving for resources and kept unsafe ships going longer or prioritized resources rich favored trade partners over smaller/poor systems

They could have eaten their cake and had it too. The child blames itself for the burn, but the real cause could be anything; fom Omega molecules to subspace instability, like what we saw in Force of Nature, or even the Time War triggering a chain reaction in active dilithium.

Reality: no spacefaring race would go extinct immediately if they lost a home world. Be significantly diminished in numbers. Maybe close to Extinction but not go extinct immediately

The 2nd Amendment was created when people had muskets ffs. Every country that has implemented stricter gun laws has seen a definite improvement and that's a fact. Some people say that people are the problem, not guns. If that's the case then why give the problem guns? America is a fkn mental asylum.
