Perhaps Bird’s behaviour acted as a mirror which had triggered Tenka’s discomfort and anger—because it reflected her inner conflicts (doubting she was not qualified enough to be the Shiroboshi School Sub-instructor), while criticizing others was a form of defense against her internal shame.
