There’s a calm here that is hard for me to describe or experience in other places. Perhaps it’s because of the stillness, the silence or opening my eyes to all this blue each morning.

Another school year gone by. Too many to count yet each one goes by faster and faster. Yet I’m grateful beyond words to still have the opportunity to work with amazing people in my favorite city💙

Saying goodbye to a home that has been your safe place for over 30 years is kinda hard. As in heartbreaking. It’s not about walls and views or even memories, it’s more about realizing that as you age, you may no longer have the lifestyle and resources you once had.

The more the insanity around our world spirals, the more I cherish my life right now…. Is this what they mean by “ waiting for the other shoe to drop”?

My mama dreamed of living by the sea. Sadly she died in a landlocked valley. Each time I look at this horizon I think of her. She is my guide from the other side, often whispering “ never give up , don’t be afraid….”. Be good to to your mamas, others may come and go in your life, but you only get 1

Anyone else having a hard time telling if news these days is real or SNL parodies? Seriously, though, no one can make this shit up!
Friends say to have no fear, yet I’m an immigrant whose parents fled an amazing country when these kinds of decrees took effect. I know, first hand, where this goes

How do you escape the news? Or at least try? This works: read . Read beautifully written novels that teach, transport, inform, inspire, and enthrall you. This one certainly will…. I really didn’t think Verghese could top his Cutting for Stone, but I couldn’t have been more wrong! Amazing read!

Happy Monday peeps. Waking up on a crispy LA January morning I think about how there are always things I miss, and things I don’t miss, from prior chapters of my life. That’s aging , I guess! These two, I definitely miss:

Back on other platforms, I lost followers when I posted books. Let’s see what happens here. At difficult times reading literature that transports is a great escape. In the past 6 days I finished this 600+ novel set in India spanning from 1896 to 1952. Lovely to be reminded that change can be good.

Nothing like a car accident, and a very rainy morning where I’m stuck in my apartment, to make me wonder if it makes sense to live in a city by the ocean, if I need to work all the time to afford life in the city by the sea. Palm Springs has no ocean but some pretty cool art.

Today, my youngest turns 37! Never could I have dreamed how different my life would have turned out 37 years later!

It’s getting a little creepy in my social media world. Might be time to leave IG and FB, and who knows, maybe that’s just the beginning. In any even, hello from Los Angeles.
