From @williamfleitch.bsky.social: I mean, I am still going to watch this game today. To try to salvage a split against the Pirates. In front of no fans. With Mikolas on the mound. I have a sickness.

For reasons that are absolutely baffling to us, the CAST podcast app deleted the last 35 minutes of our show today. Apologies. Very frustrating. Anyway, you have the first six minutes. You missed talk of Jordan Walker/Illinois/Mizzou football. Argh. Podcast equivalent of current Cardinals baseball.

Going to baseball games is good, baseball is fun.

It's sad to be the way everybody talks about us now.

. @williamfleitch.bsky.social's least favorite Cardinal is, and will surely always be, Tino Martinez. (Responded to taking over for Big Mac by ... having his worst season, moping, complaining about missing the Yankees, forcing his way out of town.)

But boy, Mikolas sure making one last run at him.

Honestly, I think I'd rather see Garrett Hampson pitch?

We keep switching from one broadcast to another to avoid Mike Matheny, and yet he keeps somehow following us to the next one.

The auto-generated chapters for our most recent podcast absolutely nailed it.

Thanks again for everybody who came out to see @williamfleitch.bsky.social and @bmiklasz.bsky.social last week at Left Bank Books. You are all so awesome.
June 30, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Well, @williamfleitch.bsky.social just watched 18 innings of Cardinals baseball at Busch Stadium and saw ... zero runs.

If you want cheered up, come see him and @bmiklasz.bsky.social TONIGHT at Left Bank Books in the Central West End. 7 p.m. CT. We'll talk books and baseball, but mostly baseball.

A reminder that @bmiklasz.bsky.social and @williamfleitch.bsky.social are recording a day later this week, on Tuesday the 10th, because Leitch is in Chattanooga, dropping off his son at camp and yelling "Choo! Choo!" at everyone on the street. (He's even wearing the little hat.) See you Tuesday.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Seeing Red will be postponed until Wednesday this week. @bmiklasz.bsky.social and @williamfleitch.bsky.social will be back with you then!

We will confess, the fact that The Greatest Baseball Game of All Time is No. 3 on this list, rather than OBVIOUSLY NUMBER ONE, had us sputtering with rage. (Particularly considering what No. 2 is.) www.nytimes.com/athletic/638...
Ranking MLB’s 25 best games of the 2000s, from October no-hitters to gripping Game 7s
There have been more than 60,000 MLB games played since 2000. Which are the wildest, the most memorable, the most thrilling, the best?

We do understand why Cardinals fans are skeptical of this front office and this organization right now. We (obviously) do. But man, if you're not watching this team right now, you're missing out.

It's amazing how often we've found ourselves saying this lately, but ... that might have been the win of the year. If Walker has figured something out ...

The @cardinals.com are so fun right now that we feel terrible saying this, but our show will be a day late this week because @williamfleitch.bsky.social is in NYC doing book promotion. (See him on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and MLB Network's "MLB Now" back-to-back on Monday.)

We will be back Tuesday.

The one of us who is a Knicks fan has had a very fun sports night. (Still feel bad for Tatum, STL's own.)

Greetings. I was highly motivated to do a thorough retrospective on the distinguished and hugely impactful #STLCards career of the their late GM, Walt Jocketty. I was determined to do it right. If you have the time, here is my labor of love and respect.

Walt Jocketty: A Retrospective
My heart is still aching since learning about the death of former Cardinals general manager Walt Jocketty at age 74. The terrible news was softened – just a little – by knowing, per Derrick Goold, tha...
