I used to work with a guy who thought bisexuality was fake, but it was transparently because his wife left him for a woman. If that made it easier for him then who am I to judge?

I have been thinking about The Terminator recently. It manages to be both a literal fated romance but also deeply passionate and genuine and human.

Genital dysphoria definitely hit a lot harder for me a couple of years into transition too. I never liked my dick, but it was largely unimportant in the same kind of way the clothes I wore were unimportant until the rest of my body was in a reasonable state and I could start being a person.

It's cool that being trans is normal enough that a mainstream game can have even this milquetoast attempt at representation. It's ironic and sad that there are characters from older media who may not even be explicitly trans (including XX Bridget lol) that tackle these issues more than she does.

Bridget is interesting because they *had* to address her gender; leaving her the same as in XX wouldn't fly. Realistically they were always going to play it safe because her concept was always "what if there was an otokonoko", and I doubt they had much interest or expertise in a trans character.

Yeah, that makes sense. I collected documents to use as evidence for an application for a while just in case, before I decided it wasn't worth it even aspirationally. Plus you can't stealth change Northern Irish birth certificates anyway lmao.

GRCs were never even a particularly effective carrot, considering that they're extraordinarily difficult to acquire while not being necessary to change your name or the gender on your passport. Presumably the surprisingly liberal process of changing your ID is on its way out, of course.

It's a good word! Maybe it's just my lack of exposure to the mainstream, but I only see it used in a neutral or positive context, and only by trans people.
It seems like most neutral terms eventually become offensive though, either through actively being used as insults or simply being archaic.
