i’m just a lowly nobody with 19 (mostly bot) followers, but i felt it my duty to share the feedback i sent to @nytimes.com today regarding @peterbakernyt.bsky.social’s disgusting article normalizing trump’s attacks and threats against my country
Peter Baker’s article on my glorious, independent, free country becoming the “51st state” was simply abhorrent. It was a prime example of making a radical, illegal, violent decision seem logical through sane washing. This idea is asinine. It constitutes a violent act of war. It would involve the forced annexation of a free state, stripping of citizens’ rights (do we really think he would let us vote? we’d be in camps within a week), and does not seem to be fundamentally different from Hitler’s 1939 invasion of Poland or Putin’s activities in Ukraine. I’m going to be honest here: I am SCARED for the future. It’s a terrifying time to be a Canadian. The fact that your paper has analyzed this as if it is a logical, legal, and frankly, expected maneuver is disgusting. For a paper of your reputation to analyze the voting demographics of Canada as if we are a pawn in your American games rather than a joyous, strong, and free nation is shocking, despicable, and unforgivable. While I know you won’t care: I will never pay for, use, or view any NYTimes products while Peter Baker is employed and these editorial standards continue. You are no longer aligned with the good of the common person. I feel bad for the Support person that has to read this request. It’s not your fault. It’s the disgusting, capital-hungry, friendly-to-fascists leadership currently setting priorities for publication. Today is yet another example. There is an ongoing protest of hundreds of thousands in New York City against Trump & Musk’s attempted coup. 0 mention of it to be found anywhere on your app or website. You serve power. You serve fascists. You do not report current events, common people’s sentiments, or the beliefs of the public in any real way. I am done. “First they came for the Socialists”
