Kvosir – Eastern Screech Owl; small fierce predator; calls are musical trills or whinnies like a tiny horse; shy; fears larger owls; Masters of camouflage can vanish against tree bark; comes in two colors, gray and red; has a magnificent mustache; very judgmental; disapproves of almost everything.

Scarlett – Barred Owl; mysterious dark eyes; soft fluffy plumage; likes head scritches; active dawn & dusk; most vocal owl – “whooo cooks for you”; screeches, screams, caterwauls; forest owl but moving into suburbs & cities; expanding population and range; A bit of a bully to spotted owls.

Olive, Barn Owl; eats thousands of mice each year; oldest owl species - around for 50 million yrs; lives everywhere except Antarctica; Best hearing of any animal; heart-shaped face; gold plumage; comb-like talon for preening; screams like a banshee; Might be mistaken for a ghost when in flight.

Hodor, Great Horned Owl; fearless apex predator; gripping strength of 300 lbs./sq in.; eats skunks; big yellow eyes; spectacular plumicorns; lives in any type of habitat in temps from -30F to 100+F; Bit of a bully – steals nests from other raptors. First identified in Virginia during colonial times.
