I think it is all things to all people. I love my local in the quiet afternoon / evening but clear off when the music starts and people get loud. It’s their pub too, so that’s how these things work. One persons ‘dead’ is another’s ‘chill out heaven’. Hitting that sweet spot is part of pub life.

I was a London-Irish kid in a rubbish school in the ‘70’s. I rinsed through every Jennings book I could find. Even when I was about 8, I knew it was a world I would never be part of, but I loved them. Just so funny, and made realise you could enjoy stories about a parallel world to yours.

It’s a Tuxedo cat thing, as far as I can get it. In their cat mind they are splayed on a beach living the dream, when they are are actually in South East London.
Which is not an unreasonable way to see the world, when you think about it.

My first ever concert, age 15. When people talk about Live Aid, I know exactly where I was that afternoon, and I was pretty much oblivious to the Wembley going-ons. As far as I was concerned, The Moment were the greatest band in the world.
On particularly giddy days, I still hold that opinion.

Steak and kidney pie. Let’s face, kidneys are just piss filters. Keep it steak, maybe ale , maybe blue cheese on Friday or a high day, but keep it simple

That was such an incredible CD. As I remember it was before you could listen to anything, anywhere, for free.
Suddenly I had a curated list of music from bands I needed to explore.

Mowing the lawn in flip-flops. Ended up losing the tip of my big toe and consider I got off lightly!

I always noticed that these people start of very keen, and by about page 15, nothing. They have given up.
I can’t recall ever seeing a book annotated in its entirety.
