Evita Opening Night @OfficialALW @JamieLloydCo At the risk of repeating myself this is for sure one of the great nights in musical theatre of recent times. A startling reimagining of a seminal show made vibrant and new and scarily resonant for the here and now. Thrilled and moved

What a privilege and a pleasure. Henry Goodman was on fire 🔥 in our close encounter @CrazyCoqs

EVITA @OfficialALW @JamieLloydCo so thrilling - as visceral and high-octane as it gets. The daring that rocked musical theatre back in 1978 seems to peak all over again. Breathtaking.

Delightful encounter with PAUL NICHOLAS @NewburyFestival recalling an extraordinary career which all but kicked off in Sydmonton’s chapel theatre (so fitting for a bona fide Jesus) @OfficialALW where he showcased songs from an unusual little show entitled CATS

Happy Birthday Patti LuPone that is)… the only Broadway star I’ve ever taken to the opera. Elektra at the ROH with Hildegard Behrens in whom my guest recognised a kindred spirit!

ADOLESCENCE @netflix Simply astonishing. Deeply upsetting.
Heartbreaking. Horribly relevant.

Will be sharing an hour or two with the West End Jesus PAUL NICHOLAS at the Lord’s (Lloyd Webber’s) chapel theatre at this year’s @NewburyFestival 22 May

FESTEN @rbo_org So much already said…but honestly I think this may be Mark-Anthony Turnage’s best piece. Brilliant Lee Hall libretto propels a score where tenderness is in head-on collision with brutality. And underneath it all a wicked irony prevails. Wow.

Stonking account of Strauss’ Alpine Symphony @LPOrchestra - one of the very best things I’ve heard from Edward Gardner. Fabulous vistas from start to finish, a storm they’ll easily have heard across the river, and a first trumpet that’s still ringing in my ears…

Lots of beautiful things in Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey’s terrific score but I’d cross time zones to see and hear Kerry Ellis blow the roof off with the banging eleven o’clock number ‘Always Starting Over’ 🤩

Tonight @LondonColiseum was extraordinary. There is only one PATTI LUPONE. The voice is unique, unmistakable, the fire of it undimmed. But it’s the lady’s feisty temperament which blazes through everything. Our association/friendship goes back decades and is treasured…

Walt Whitman and Vaughan Williams - visionaries both. ‘Behold, the Sea!’ and there it is in great washes of choral and orchestral sound. Fabulous work from @LSChorus and @londonsymphony under an impassioned Antonio Pappano. Soprano @MasabaneCecilia was, in every sense, majestic.
