I agree wholeheartedly. But we need both. We can rebuild a party of the left but not before the next election. Are you suggesting that the CPC and the liberals are equally bad? Carney is too far right for me but Poilievre is magnitudes worse.

This is exactly how I feel. And the reality is that a lack of precedent will not protect us in the future anyway. A gov’t that wants to abuse citizenship will not be constrained by laws or moral conventions. I still don’t know how I feel about the petition but I think we need to keep that in mind.

I’m conflicted. I don’t think this will petition will work, but could it alarm enough people to spur action against the real threat: the spread of disinformation to control the outcome of elections? For me, Musk’s economic threat is nothing compared to that Orwellian nightmare. I really don’t know.

No need to contact elections Canada. Joining a political party does not mean you have to vote for them in the election. And political parties don’t get to know how you voted or even if you voted.

I think it helps to imagine the historical legacy. At some point in the future it will be clear to all that X destabilized democratic governments and enabled fascism. How will you feel then about your reasons for sticking with them?
