Oh. Back to the glib dehumanizing? Already?

But they seemed so sincere

Ah, so it's not expensive cleaning fees, it's expensive "clean up" fees.

Anyone who finds the end of birth-right citizenship politically convenient is giving away their own rights. The only protection of rights that any of us has in this country comes from the constitution. You cannot give away the 14th amendment without handing your rights to Trump on a silver platter.
January 24, 2025 at 10:53 PM
We need to learn how to see through what is happening. "Birth-right citizenship" is under attack, yes, but it's also just a convenient litmus test for Trump to see how far he can violate the boundaries of the constitution, and who will let him. Do not voluntarily give away the constitution.
January 24, 2025 at 10:51 PM
This is also important because knowing and holding onto our own rights as individuals helps us know and protect the rights of the people around us. We don't volunteer our own rights. And we don't volunteer anyone else for the violation of their rights.
January 24, 2025 at 10:45 PM
The first and most important action to take is to make sure we never voluntarily surrender our rights. "If you're not breaking any laws, why don't you just do what [pick an agency] says?" Because my following the laws has nothing to do with freely giving my rights away.

The more time we spend trying to convince them to stop being bad, the more time they have to carry out the bad while we're distracted arguing. You cannot persuade a fascist by appealing to reason or morality.
January 24, 2025 at 10:41 PM
We need to grey-rock the fascist forces. No wasting our time explaining to them how egregious their behavior is. They know and that's the point. Don't argue with people who don't care for goodness or reason, but only power. Hear what they say, understand their threats, but don't argue, only act.

We cannot and will not "work together in unity" with anyone who takes advantage of kindness and mutuality in order to harm. We cannot fall into the traps either of love bombing or rage baiting. We must focus on doing the good and the right with defiance and persistence and strength.

Though I imagine that familial status may have less to do with it than being the scapegoat. #narcissisticabuse

If they don't show up to their own peer-to-peer, it should be an automatic approval. But I think it's definite grounds for contacting the insurance commissioner in your state, and tell Melina that you are doing so.

I use @thestorygraph.com ! Not owned by a large corporation, way better recommendations than Goodreads, tracks interesting stats, and they have instructions how to import your info from Goodreads :)

I think society at large doesn't want to take any responsibility, at least in very individualistic cultures, so it's easier just to say that "there's something wrong with those people" rather than, "what can we all do to make this better."

To clarify, they define disability including both factors, but do not require both factors to be present. I think autism doesn't always impose limitations based on the function of the person's body, but the societal component always imposes limits on autistic people.

World health organization includes societal factors in its definition of a disability. Disability can include functional limits imposed by the person's body as well as the society they live in. It includes the medical model of disability as well as the social model.

Depends on where the "locus of control" is in relation to a given individual, and learning how to navigate towards or away from that locus in order to make life doable. But the position of that locus can depend on personality as well as circumstance.
