There's a particular flavor of defeatism when highly-anticipated soundtracks are released late, after the game, with no fanfare or countdowns or presaves or marquees or canvas or apple motion or marketing, no pre/orders for CD and vinyl, no PRO registrations, and metadata looks like this

I keep thinking about this, also from the DIY/creator lens. Some friction is crucial.

Registering songs with societies, registering copyrights, making games/music available on commercial platforms --
these aren't tools that should be available to everyone.

One day I'll do a tutoriel about how each of these recordings requires manual claim resolution on dozens of platforms, and interfacing with 200 international agencies. Music publishing has a long road of evolution ahead

Some digital distributors prioritize speed over accuracy; make sure that composer credits are properly added and make their way to platforms.

No composer in the metadata can void your license, and in many cases will prevent composers from getting paid correct royalties.

Crosspost; Yep. I've had many, many discussions re: genAI at music industry panels/events. Few leaders (who manage quality catalogs) are worried.

As low-quality, functional, keyword-spammed "content" floods marketplaces, curatorship is key: that's labels, publishers, sync agents, etc.

Curate.
