The concept of #Selfhosting is growing in popularity again. In my newest blog post I describe what it is, what it means for individuals and companies and what I recommend as a practical middle ground without falling to extremes: blog.sebastianwoehrl.name/blog/2025-12...

Custom Resources and Operators have opened #Kubernetes up to become the orchestrator and center piece for global platforms. In my latest blog post I explain how that works and why it is great: blog.sebastianwoehrl.name/blog/2025-10...

I've done a lot of things with #GitOps and #FluxCD over the years. Some of my (sometimes painfully) learned lessons I have written down in my blog:

I love the #Rust programming language. More than Python and Go. What I don't like with them in contrast to Rust, and why I would recommend Rust even for #Kubernetes tool development, I have written about in my blog: blog.sebastianwoehrl.name/blog/2025-05...

When regularly switching betwen projects with different tool stacks, having declarative, reproducible and isolated dev environments can be a life saver. What their advantages are and how I implemented them using #devbox I wrote about in my blog: blog.sebastianwoehrl.name/blog/2025-02...

Dealing with errors in software development is different from platform engineering.
When building infrastructure platforms my philosophy is that errors will happen. So it is better to have tools and procedures in place to quickly and easily correct them. blog.sebastianwoehrl.name/blog/2025-01...

Wrote a blog post (with hands-on examples) about configuring CI Trust to allow GitHub and GitLab runners to access AWS and Azure without credentials. This is a feature that is easy to setup and leads to increased security and IMO better developer usability. blog.sebastianwoehrl.name/blog/2024-12...

Hello there. I'm a software/platform architect. My days I spend at MaibornWolff, building SmartFactory platforms for our customers. In the evenings I program for fun or lose myself in the worlds of Star Trek and Star Wars via books/moves/games. From time to time I blog on technical topics.
