Some UEFAnomics.

According to The Times every List A eligible player count towards creating a positive transfer balance, even those who weren't previously registered.

Neither Fofana nor Lavia were registered, but the latter is now eligible for our List B so he shouldn't add to our List A cost.

Let's see how wrong I am in nine months.

He's cup-tied for the CWC(13 mins played lmao), so we can't add him to our squad if we beat Benfica tonight. Same goes for Estevão Willian, but looks like either Benfica or us will play Palmeiras in the QF anyway.

From PWC which is essentially what someone else replied to you, I haven't seen anything about clubs getting insurance against doping offences though.

Probably want to know for how long he'll be banned before you do anything though.

This is going to sting.

Well, £15m is not £25m.

I can live with that fee, assuming we haven't given him too long of a contract.

In Joe Shields we trust.

No surprise, Man Utd didn’t have to pay Chelsea £xM just because Mount played in the EL final.

Sell-on fees and contingent consideration totaling only £55k kicked in after March 31.

Some napkin math when it comes to our GKs. Assuming we sign Maignan for £22.5m

Maignan was reportedly close to extend his deal with Milan in Feb, so I've used the reported figures as an estimate for his wages. (160k/w gross, 3+1y)

Kepa is just there as a yardstick.

Of course.

Sounds more like the original deal was a loan deal with an option + (contingent) loan fee, rather than an obligation + penalty fee.

You'd think if there was an obligation we'd have an agreement with Sancho in place already.

(I'd pay the penalty fee and move on)

If we sign Emegha from Strasbourg on a pre-agreement, the transfer fee would still need to be reasonable (at fair market value), but UEFA would exclude any profit from its financial calculations. Fwiw.

Opta has it about 10% lower. Interesting.

You don't say.
May 17, 2025 at 1:48 AM
My theory is that exit clauses exist to protect players by allowing them to leave for a predetermined fee if the club fails to qualify for the CL for a specified period. Have to give something other than just a wage rise to get them to extend, can't pay CL wages if you aren't in the CL..
May 7, 2025 at 7:00 PM
You still use his initial registration period, there won't be any material changes to his amortisation other than agent fees that get capitalised. It was the same when Palmer extended his deal last summer.

Caicedo is affected by UEFA's 5y cap so it'll reduce his "UEFA" amortisation by quite a bit.

I see.
