Tanka for a child

Baby don’t touch that…
Stop playing with the plants PLEASE.
Parenting is hard
But it’s all worth her safety
As long as she’s fed I guess.

Ominous in its red path.

Winter dragon ( a tanka )

Black and white winter
A dragon rises from snow…
Translucent power.
The frozen sky awakens,
By winds akin to blizzards

Ears ringing sharply,
its roar shakes us from the cold.
Yet we still shiver,
Not from a place of coldness,
But like bugs under lizards

Tanka poems follow a set of rules. They all have five lines and each line follows a pattern: the first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, the third line has five syllables, the fourth line has seven syllables, and the fifth line has seven syllables.
