One of my first thoughts was “grandma must be so excited”. Felt great for you. My mom would have been elated as Cal has been her favorite player for 3 years. I lost her in July. Part of me said he’s doing this for her. Baseball is life.

When people complain about “Seattle used to be great”. This is how you make Seattle great. I have fond memories of being downtown and getting stickers and baseball cards from police officers. Made it amazing as a kid. It was shady (w/ more XXX theatres, dive bars, Etc) but wonderful.
