My favorite solution to this intersection: Delete Green Lake Way from Stone to 46th. It causes more problems for every road user than it solves. Yes, even car drivers. Then restore the street grid and using the reclaimed public land for housing.

"Yesterday’s tragic killing by an ICE agent highlights our worst fears and confirms what I and others have been stating for months: ICE’s approach to its mission actively undermines local public safety and puts our entire community at risk. My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends and the Minneapolis community during this time of loss. “This tragedy was entirely preventable, and this type of reckless conduct is unacceptable. AI "news" is so fucking awful. Seattle Bike Blog has great search engine karma, so we often get "cited" in these slop stories. Here's one that just popped up about the Rad bankruptcy. Nearly all the figures in the piece are just plain wrong, but then the AI attributes the errors to us! Fuck this.
Employee impacts have been severe. A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed last month warned of potential closures affecting 64 Washington state workers, with operations possibly ending as early as January 2026. This follows waves of layoffs that reduced the workforce from over 1,000 at its peak to around 100 today, per insights from Seattle Bike Blog.

Dear Valued ORCA Customer, You are receiving this message because your ORCA card was used to ride the Seattle Center Monorail this year, and we wanted you to be aware of an upcoming change on that service. Effective January 1, 2026, Monorail fares paid with ORCA E-purse will no longer receive a free 2-hour transfer credit. This means each Monorail ride will require full fare payment, even if it occurs within two hours of another ORCA ride. You can still use your ORCA card to pay for Monorail fares. There is no change for trips paid with a Monthly PugetPass or Regional Day Pass – these products will continue to be accepted as they are today.

Strong advertisement for using a second lock! Looks like someone cut this tiny bar lock, but then gave up after realizing the bike also had a disk brake lock. Also, this is the first time I’ve ever seen a bicycle disk brake rotor lock. Fascinating idea.

The section of Rainier from Mount Baker to the Chinatown International District (CID) has planned repaving, bike, safety, transit, and on-ramp revision projects, and they must all be coordinated in a unified vision to reimagine the street.
