The law only protects against certain kinds of discrimination, like on the basis of race, religion national origin, gender. The law allows discrimination on the basis of poverty. Alas.

And to those scoffing at the idea that homeless people stay in hotels: when shelters are full, local agencies regularly place clients in hotel rooms. Many unhoused individuals also have jobs and cycle between hotels, cars, friends' apartments, and the street.

I'm very skeptical of self-reporting by crazy, illogical people. They want to be flamboyantly violent and will grab any frickin excuse that's handy. When reporters question them, they're flattered and spout nonsense like they're serious thinkers. Think of shooting the football in "Badlands."

I heard (don't recall my sources, so sue me) that JFK & LBJ kept Vietnam War going because they thought Ds looked weak on national security & would lose elections if they ended the war. And Nixon thought the same about Rs, until law and order became higher priority among voters.

Yes, context matters. Eg, us old liberals who grew up hating Stalin and govt catechism ("Newspeak" a la Orwell, "compelled speech" per the ACLU) can view required speech like Indigenous People's land acknowledgements as anti 1st Amendment, while supporting teaching the cruel history of land theft.

You sidestep the fact that "progressive" doesn't necessarily jibe with "progress." Progressives can be repressive. And many conservatives want to conserve the environment, are big National Parks fans and EPA fans. Sadly, life is complex.

I can't answer for the poster but he said "politics," not policies. "Defund the Police" was an inane political slogan, for example, even though police reform was called for.
