We're reading Konrad von Megenburg's Book of Nature in
the Medieval German Seminar this term. Earlier this week, I read 'The moon is much smaller than the sun, but it seems as big because it is much closer than the sun', and all I could think of was this iconic scene from Fr Ted with the cows!

Hello BlueSky! I'm currently a German Lecturer at Oxford and a medievalist by training. I finished my DPhil last year on medieval Marian lyric in French and German cities - a favourite image below, which illustrates one such poem, depicting Mary as a regent, teaching with authority. BnF fr 145 3v
