We are due more snow tmrrw & it’s probably not even winter’s last hurrah. I’m self soothing remembering these leftover tulip & lilac blooms I brought in for us. We grow a lot of flowers for others & sometimes I forget to bring them in for us too but I’m trying to be better! #bloomscroll #flowerfarm

Finally hitting 50 Fahrenheit this weekend but still weeks away from these blooms which just feels unfair 😂 Maine is worth it though! #bloomscroll #flowerfarm #tulips #spring #midcoastmaine

Close up photo of some of my Floret zinnias last season. One of my goals this year is to take more (& much better) photos. I love this one though? I remember I was so hot that day these zinnias & I were SO happy to get back in to my cool flower studio! #bloomscroll #flowerfarm #zinnias #gardening

Last year was my first year growing a lot of celosia (successfully) and I really fell in love with its feathery fun spiky shape. Along with strawflower I want to grow SO much of it this year! #bloomscroll #flowerfarm #gardening #celosia

I lived in New Orleans for a long time and marveled how we could have such a rich insane holiday when everywhere else it was just Tues. Now I live everywhere else and I’m still amazed. Anyhow, here’s some King Cake ice cream and happy Mardi Gras everyone!

And a sunset photo from my other garden. I put some seedling dahlias there last year because I put them like everywhere I could 😂. Sunset is always so lovely in this spot. But the seedlings didn’t get enough sun I think! #bloomscroll #gardening #flowerfarm #dahlias #sunset

Five mins of scrolling was more than I could take this morning before I had to go back to flowers. This is Hollyhill Starburst, a dahlia I bought on a whim last year and ended up loving so much. So did my littles! I should grow more maybe! #bloomscroll #dahlias #gardening #flowerfarm #midcoastmaine

Dusk last night. The garden/production field is actually behind these snow mounds but we have a bit before they will be accessible again. It. Is. ICY! And it is currently snowing again. 🤦🏻‍♀️ #flowerfarm #wintering #midcoastmaine #gardening

Bloomquist York. I can’t get enough of this one, and neither can my customers! It’s v prolific and v big but I want more of these. I’m just not sure how many! I think I might try to bump up to 5 this year?

Statice and a seedling dahlia but the color palette here is so fun. I’m trying to decide how i want yo plant this yr - by color? By form? A mix mash? So reviewing old photos of last yr yo see what i liked. #flowerfarming #gardening #dahlias #statice #plantingpalette #bloomscrolling #planning

Throwback to that time last summer when I actually had a patch of sunflowers that DIDN’T get eaten by the deer. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ #gardening #flowerfarming #midcoastmaine #sunflowers

This was a just-before-frost tomato harvest - my littlest LOVES harvesting in the garden and can eat his weight in Sun Gold tomatoes. I’m trying to narrow down my tomato varieties but these are a must grow. What’s your favorite tomato? #gardening #flowerfarm #tomatoes #midcoastmaine

Tulips, hyacinth, mint… - I’m not sure where I was going here but those first bouquets of the year are so soul soothing! #bloomscroll #flowerarranging #flowerfarm #midcoadtmaine

First day over freezing in a month. The light has appeared at the end of the tunnel! Pic for reminder of what’s on the other side of all the ice and rain and wind and snow!

A bouquet for one of my brides last season being made. I test and test again while I’m making them. It’s both fun and stressful! 😂 #wedding #flowerfarm #gardening #floraldesign #midcoastmaine

These dahlia seedlings won’t win any awards but the pollinators sure love them! And so do I. I saved them to grow on bc I love the colors so v much! #bloomscroll #dahlias #gardening #seedlings #flowerfarm

In an episode of real talk last season was super hard. We had a v hard time hiring help, & at the end of the season I was laid low
with illness. So it is only now that I see how successful it actually was. All I cld see at the time was all the balls I’d dropped. #bloomscroll #flowerfarm #gardening

One thing I didn’t realize when I started growing was how much I’d 💕 strawflower. Every year I grow more of it! It’s a great textural element, comes in a variety of colors, & is pretty much dried from the moment of harvest. Plus, when the wind blows it rustles like paper. 💕 #bloomscroll #flowerfarm

👀 a bucket of dahlias harvested for a DIY bride last summer. Working w/a local flower farm can be a great way to get premium flowers affordably, plus you support the community, the environment, & in this case a petite woman owned business. Lmk if you have ?’s abt how it works! #weddings #flowerfarm

This was one of my seedling dahlia patches last year, with the sweet pea cattle panels behind. Sweet peas had ended by this photo but I did get some cup and saucer vine growing there after for the hummingbirds. There was a cpl that nested in there! They were so fun to hang out with in the garden 💕

Also we are staying in a wee air bnb camp for a few days in the mtns & that wide white expanse is a frozen pond. Embracing the beauty and joy of this season before it’s gone and mud season takes us! #wintering #maine #embracetheseasons

An ephemeral and ethereal moment in the fields last year. The cyclical nature of gardening is a source of hope. I think that’s part of why it is so soothing don’t you? I’m ruminating this morning on the whys. #bloomscroll #gardening #flowerfarm #dahlias #midcoastmaine #dahlialove

This is of one of the most stunning zinnias to come out of my Floret seeded zinnias last year. This came from my Alpenglow patch. I can’t wait to grow these again! #zinnias #gardening #bloomscroll #flowerfarm #floret
