Thinking about getting a Cisco 3750G for my home lab setup. I already use virtual Cisco switches in GNS3, but something about using the physical ones feels different. They go for around 45-60 bucks on ebay, which doesn't seem too bad. Of course I'm always open to suggestions too.

I got a new toy. I shall unveil it when it's finished!

Decided to post about this because of the Subnautica mobile announcement. Technically it already is on mobile, kinda. With winlator you can play a load of Windows games. The performance isn't amazing, but it does run. But none the less really excited for the mobile release.

So my teacher gave me all his old graphics cards. One of them happened to be a 3dfx voodoo 3 3000! I have yet to test it as I just found out that none of my systems have an AGP slot, not even my Pentium III workstation. I might buy a dual Pentium II system from my work, if I can haggle it for cheap.

What kind of drug makes you want to design a laptop like this.

it is done.

My main system with endeavourOS is finally shitting the bed after 2 years of use. I've bandaided so many issues on it, it's not even funny. But hey I'm now finally going to reinstall with base arch, which I've been meaning to do for a few months now. also here is a slightly related image.

OH, I never posted an update about the Gentoo Linux lapbook. IT BOOTS!! I don't have a photo right now as I don't have it with me right now, it shall come though. Overall it was really fun to do, it did take like 10 hours to compile the kernel, I kinda expected that though. Neofetch coming soon.

Got a chance to mess around with this Tandy model 100. It was fun learning and making some simple BASIC programs.

I am now again attempting to install Gentoo Linux on real hardware. This time I'm using my new Lapbook (patent pending).

Found out about build root the other day, and holy crap is it cool! I've always wanted to make my own Linux spin of something, I know this isn't exactly what i was looking for, but I'm glad i found it. Still haven't gotten some things to work, like ssh or a package manager, but I'm getting there.

Got to messing with freeBSD a bit. It's pretty freaking dope. I mostly treated it like Linux with a few exceptions and it worked out pretty well.
I don't see myself daily driving it anytime soon, but it's pretty fun to tinker with.

I have yet again forgotten that social media exists. I really do need to get better at posting here.

Ok, so the NAS has come to a slight standstill. The current raid controller i have doesn't support passthrough, nor can I get firmware installed that works with all 16 ports. So I'm just going to buy 2 8 ports controllers for 25 a piece, and sell my current one. It's slowly coming together!

I'm finally getting around to making a NAS. Found these 1TB SAS drives for really cheap in bulk.

I'ma try and give openBSD or one of the other BSDs a shot. Not sure which one to start with, I'll probably just flip a coin or something.
I'm also very much open to recommendations.

After months of putting it off, I finally installed base Arch on my daily laptop (I had EndeavourOS before). I put it off mostly because the backup would've taken a while, and it very much did. But now it's done and I'm happy.

Found my dad's old Linux books in the attic the other day. Unfortunately the install CDs weren't there, but there was the exact version on the Internet archive. A pretty cool distro based on Red hat. I might start collecting these old distro books.
