I think what we need is more speculative design. To me, it seems futurism is in drought - no new magic interfaces to explore, no holograms, ...

I think that is why 'AI wearables' was (still is?) such an obvious hype-market the past few years - its a different context. The unfortunate part is that the context is not a useful or desirable one ...

OS design has always derived from the *context of interaction*. That has not changed significantly since the introduction of iOS/Android or even in desktop computing. Phones are used in the same contexts, laptops are used in the same contexts. AI won't make an impact until its in a novel context

I think this is an *excellent* point. I love Manzini's "the code that binds us" for including human flourishing as a 'protected value' of human-AI interaction. I work in personal informatics and we also see the need to balance AI convenience with purpose per se...

Correct me if I'm wrong - critical thinking is a skill not an activity - I was curious what areas you've investigated where LLMs might hinder or undermine it! Or whether you found broader implications

I’d love to learn more about the critical thinking - again seems like not all work requires it - how do you see it being used at all?
February 18, 2025 at 1:11 PM
I don’t think he’s just about labour costs. Fact is, not all work is creative work. I wouldn’t rely on AI for wicked problem-style scenarios - but why wouldn’t you use it for generating code or emails that are standardised anyway?

this is what I see in my head (also first day after my deadlines are gone so I have too much time 😌)

This is not useful feedback but slight backseat design sorry , have you tried stacked month and price vertically on the left - so checkbox can take up whole line height on right ? Yearly ‘save’ can go in middle and highlight monthly rate maybe even with the thematic bg colour like a label

I really get that - but I’m still on the search for a solution before I drop back to txt… I’m using interstitial journaling at the moment - and an extra file that filters out all “journal tasks” that I write in it … works pretty well with obsidian !

bullish on apps that can be used without excessive organisation, such as @obsidian.md over the next decade ... @notion.com is in an interesting spot here?
