The all-time great, must-watch classic Yakuza movies are the Battles Without Honor and Humanity films by Kinji Fukasaku. The other best ones to check out would be Beat Takeshi's movies like Sonatine (for something more artsy) or the Outrage movies (for something more action and pulp-y).
