Edward J Bristow. ‘Prostitution & Prejudice’ deals specifically with the Jewish community and vice, but later 1870 - 1939.
His ‘Vice and Vigilance’ covers the period from 1700, but doesn’t have the focus on the Jewish community (I’ve not consulted a copy, so have no idea as to the contents).

If Brexit hadn’t happened UK GDP would be larger. If our economy had grown, there would be less need for increased taxes as tax revenue would have grown as a function of economic growth. It’s just a straightforward statement of fact, as much as it is anything else.

That’s not how it works. There can be multiple reasonable explanations and that amounts to reasonable doubt.
It is the guilty explanation that is the one that has to be proved, beyond a reasonable doubt.
