Just looking for a good place to settle.

DnD, games, books, and just, you know, all around geek enthusiast.

He/him
This was my thought. Treat it like residuals in TV and i could potentially see a working model of compensation. Problem is i dont trust the vast majority of corporations to do anything fair like that.

Youre not alone in this feeling...

And their 'apology' post gave me zero confidence that this is going to go well. The whole we're going to avoid feminism and remove anyone who could be seen as competing with the player for women...just made it feel gross.

Only thing i dont agree with here is the California thing. We're not playing fuck you politics, we're out here trying to keep the country from bein overwhelmed by fuck you politics.
If they manage to gerrymander the house into oblivion, the fuck you politics becomes the only polítics of the nation

Yeah, the only corruption i have any interest in with regards to SNAP is the corporations who subsidize their shit pay with SNAP benefits because they aren't willing to pay a living wage.

The problem is dems are more prone to doing things because people are getting hurt. What republicans are doing here is trying to leverage the hurt of federal workers against the hurt of people who would be hurt by the medicaid cuts.

Is there any acknowledgement at all of the many many norms republicans have broken since...well...Obama? The judge packing, obstructionism, insurrection, any of it?
I mean, many problems go back to Reagan...but theyve kicked into high gear since Obama. Do they just see that as normal?
August 16, 2025 at 9:15 PM
Let me guess, those norms are ones that think lgbtqia people should be silent and hidden (or not exist), that police are all heroes protesting us as a thin blue line, and that immigrants are a plague that will take over the country if left to run amuck?
Im so tired of their desire to hurt people.

Currently listening to a book while doom scrolling.

Yes, but they seem to be even shuttering games that could be that for them. Microsoft was over there trying to produce another destiny (that they imply was going well) and they shuttered it.
And i wish this was a games only thing, but layoffs to make the line go up is foundational now to them.

So anything that woman hates pretty much immediately has my support.
Excuse me while i make a donation.

I mean, none of the democrats voted for it by what Ive read.
Republicans who make huge deals about not cutting medicaid (i know Young Kim in Cali has signs all over Yorba Linda saying she wouldnt cut medicaid) definitely did vote for it.
May 22, 2025 at 2:29 PM
Ive been seeing signs around Yorba Linda, ones that i thought were from her people, saying she wouldnt vote to cut medicaid. I guess that was an outright lie...or propoganda, or whatever.
She got her SALT increase, guess that is all she really cares about.
Im really tired.
May 22, 2025 at 2:20 PM
Except it seems to be fucking working. It has been their platform since the 80s and theyve managed to spew enough propoganda to convince 50% of voters to them.

We have tried and are trying: direct confrontation, protest, calling representatives, logic, debate, showing the research, cutting ourselves off from family/friends, and so much more.
For many, its been near non stop.
Yes, we occasionally need humor if only to keep ourselves sane and still fighting

Im having a hard time telling. Are you against public healthcare, or just against a public option? I mean, personally i want profit seeking corporations far from our medical care...too many incentives for them to gouge people and easy to do to sick people who have no real options
December 11, 2024 at 9:04 PM
He wanted a public option. That failed to pass and that lack is one of the big reasons pricing can get as out of control as it has.
December 11, 2024 at 6:31 PM
Yep. Not looking forward to the country being run, again, by folk who, when they see something wrong, they look for ways to profit.

We will still have people fighting them, and we can still do things on local levels to challenge, but god im tired.

We have one of the pro-active ftc leaders in generations with Lina Khan. She has been fighting with big tech and monopolies throughout her tenure, and being actually effective. A lot of big corps put money for Trump just to get her out. Gonna be tough to lose her.
December 10, 2024 at 7:07 PM
A public health option would do it. But our government continues to choose corporate profits over human health and wellbeing...
