Well said, and an important data point.

Former comic shop owner from here in the States. Love it. You’re well organized, racked, love the couch. If I ever make it over to Leeds again (been a bit), I will most definitely drop by.

But… but… Paramount is promising it won’t change anything!

Riiiight

Highly unlikely to happen. SVOD has been shown to have very little impact on BO, and the studios like that revenue stream.

As for streaming services, I think you will see more and more tiered releases, but I don’t see 6 months ever coming back.

Yep. There is only one thing selling right now on a large scale: Spectacle. And you can only pump out so many of those a year.

Even horror is starting to take a hit.

But remember… we’re doomsayers -rolls eyes-

The genie is out of the bottle. It's going to be nearly impossible to retrain people to attend theaters.
November 17, 2025 at 8:16 PM
Good grief. Cue Hollywood thinking every anime can do this and they flood the zone without a clue of what they are doing.
November 16, 2025 at 4:29 PM
… not what I was expecting
November 15, 2025 at 9:51 PM
I mean… we’ve both tried warning everyone, but that “wait for 25” was so sure we were just being Sooners. Oh well, I guess the new normal will just be whatever this is… until it gets worse.

Is it just me or should there be a bit more panic/urgency from everyone?
November 9, 2025 at 10:39 PM
-rubs temples- yep… all is fine. Mmhmm
November 1, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Yes, it is inspired. It was not Japanese produced, but still falls in the category of “what is happening…”

I was thinking about this a lot today. As someone who has been involved in the anime industry for decades, this a truly amazing time for the art form.

As a semi-pro box office analyst… what in the world is happening? Between Demon Slayer, K-Pop, and now Chainsaw… what a bizarre year.
October 27, 2025 at 1:37 AM
Yep. If WB gets acquired by the likes of Skydance the number will go down as well. I expect to see a lot more stunt releases like KPOP

Those WBD rumors just got a tad more intriguing
October 23, 2025 at 7:40 PM
But… but… I keep hearing that theatrical is back! (They still refuse to acknowledge the foundations of the experience need to change)
October 12, 2025 at 8:30 PM
… it’s not Waterworld Part 2. Summer down
October 7, 2025 at 2:22 AM
Taylor Swift single-handily saving cinema
October 4, 2025 at 6:40 PM
It’s so sad it’s the last one…
September 28, 2025 at 7:52 PM
The fact it held #1 for a second week is insanity. What lesson Hollywood takes from this will be intriguing. (Spoiler: No matter what lesson they take, it will be the wrong one)
September 21, 2025 at 8:33 PM
I’m really enjoying how people are using this as soon sign that theatrical is back to pre-Covid and theatrical is saved. Never mind both attendance and revenue are down, but we’re back, baby!

Disney Sea is so on my bucket list. Of course it opened after I stopped going to Japan on business

A seriously overlooked system
