Managed to grab almost identical sunrise/sunset shots today on today and yesterdays runs. It was intentional no matter what I tell you. 🤣🤣🤣

4 miles out and back to turtle Lake yesterday.
8 miles out and back passing Snell Lake, and Vadnais lake today.

A childhood friend of mine, who leans conservative, has been trying to understand my perspective for years. I wanted him to grasp the seriousness of the current climate. I left disappointed—not because I failed, but because addiction has changed his brain chemistry. At least he’s seeking help.

Morning YMCA revelations:

A) Coffee is not good here. I don’t know why I had a mythical view of it.

B) With a swim caps on, the morning lifeguard will ask me and my 13 year old daughter what high school do we go to, and how long we have been a couple.

I need real coffee.

I have a minor injury that is preventing me from my running routine. Back to the gym for me. Hopefully I’ll be back out there in a couple of months.

:: UNMOTIVATED ::

Work has been rough, and sleep was minimal. Back at it tomorrow. It’s a rest day for me.

First structured speed work of the block: 4x200x2 with 800 rest. Felt strong until the cooldown 😂

Always nervous when I start speed work because of a bad experience when I started running two years ago. Need to remind myself to sprinkle it in slowly and trust the process.

Missed my run this morning due to lack of sleep. Might make it up at lunch.

It must run in the family: My 13 year old needed a lift to the bus stop. I tried our daily call & return (Me: “carpe diem”, Her: “Seize the carp”) but embarrassment overcame her, and she awkwardly smiled as she boarded.

Sunday long run today: 9 miles round about 2 hours.

It’s always stunning to me how solutions to difficult problems easily pop into my head on these runs. Figured out how to make my Wife’s Christmas even more special. 😀
